Time for the Making!
Mariposa Rising! Butterfly Power - When the going gets rough get creative!
I’ve been numb. Not able to make much of a sound, or craft, or write, just cook, and talk deeply with friends and family about this crushing force that is let loose upon the land. I am dedicated to the light within all of us, and it takes intense concentration to keep my attention on inner light, as the violent, psychotic Bull blasts through the china closet of democracy and decency.
Communities all across the world are already shattered by it’s force, and we seem like ants scattered as our trusted rock is kicked away. We must reorganize. And then employ some very new tactics for change based in non-violence and adding the power of creativity. Our communication systems are vast now, we can infuse the world with love, beauty, wisdom and peaceful resistance like never before. Now is the time!
The force of destruction is like Medusa, it freezes you to stone if you look directly at it. I have been frozen. Do I fight, do I run? There is a third way. It has been my medicine for years now. Creativity is the antidote to destruction. I’m coming out of the shock and into the making. A vision is emerging from sacred conversations, dances of ideas that seem to emerge from the soul of the world.
On a recent drum journey I traveled through a Hemlock tree, guided by a big black mother bear, up and out through every tiny green needle into the void beyond our atmosphere. Out in the black, I saw that for every needle of the tree there was a star glimmering at me in rainbow colors. A dense circle of black formed and then became an egg pod in which there were millions of eggs. I felt, sensed a presence telling me to bring them back to the earth. With the pod in my arms, I leapt back through the the fiery blast of our atmosphere at thunderous speed and landed safely in the branches of the Hemlock. Down through it’s trunk I slid, exhausted, clutching the pod. Black Bear gingerly took it in her teeth and gently broke it open. Suddenly I knew each seed was the spirit of a butterfly. I could see the rainbow colors shimmering all across the land. I reoriented North, South, East, West, watching Mother Bear walk slowly South through the mountain laurel dropping seeds as she went. I knew instantly that this was what I must also do, spread the power of the butterfly’s wings across the land.
Several friends who are deeply involved in helping Immigrant communities have already seen the Butterfly-Mariposa-as a symbol of our natural migration and liberation. I am following their lead with my particular gifts. I will sew capes, create a butterfly stencil, support children and adults in immigrant communities to paint them and wear them in parades, for protection, for liberation! “Butterflies are free and so are we!” We are free in our spirit, nothing can take that away.
I would love to hear what creative vision is calling to be expressed through you? You can also become a part of Mariposa Rising! Comment here and we can connect.

Please let me know details. If the times and dates work I think my troupe might be able to add our butterflies.
